Welcome to Michala Petri Music – my own site, where I share music, ideas and tips from my 50 year long experience as a musician and concert artist through 50 years. (For info about my concerts, discography, biography and news you can visit my homepage www.michalapetri.com )
On this page I will make myself at home and share:
Sheet music for recorder in many combinations…
I have often been asked by other players if they can have the music I am using – both for baroque works, transscriptions and contemporary music – so I have decided to put the most-asked-for up here, as well as other pieces I find interesting.
The pieces are divided in groups of instrumentation – with one added list of pieces commissioned by and composed for me. Some of those works I am able to put on the page as sheet music and some will have links to where to obtain them.
Teaching Videos
Soon I am going to add teaching Videos…
There are many good teachers in the recorder world, and videos cannot substitute a good teacher. Still, I have been asked so often how I do specific things, why my playing is different from others, what I have done to get a good technique what I do to maintain it, as well as specific questions about technical problems. So I find it meaningful to put my ideas of recorder playing into some videos – starting from basics, showing the way I have learned to play myself, and of course combined with the experiences I have had with students of all levels.
You may want to learn only from those, you may find them useful as a complement to other teachings or you may just use a few tips. In any event I hope you will find them useful.
Q&A Blog:
I always like to share my thoughts with the many collegaues and players of all levels, that I do meet briefly. I will try to update it regularly but in busy periods there may be))))
If you have any questions, ideas for sheet music you would like to see here or other comments, please use the contact form, and I will post answers in the Q&A blog.
Thank you for taking part here – I am happy to be able to share music this way in addition to my concerts and albums.
Enjoy the music! And remember:
The joy of music making is NOT dependent on how good you are. If you know what you are doing, and if you feel safe and connect with the music the joy and benefit is the same at all levels!
